GTA VI PC Release Rumor: Why Corsair’s Early 2026 Estimate No Longer Holds Up

Rumor credibility: Low confidence. A February 2025 comment from Corsair Gaming CEO Andy Paul is still frequently cited as evidence that GTA VI would arrive on PC in early 2026. It should not be treated that way now. Rockstar Games has since announced that GTA VI is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 26, 2026, making an early-2026 PC launch impossible.

The original claim came from Paul during Corsair’s fourth-quarter 2024 earnings call on February 12, 2025. He said his understanding was that GTA VI would launch on consoles in fall 2025 and come to PC “early 2026.” Corsair did not present a Rockstar document, development source, platform agreement, or other direct evidence for that estimate. Rockstar has still not officially announced a PC release date—or, publicly, a PC version at all.

This is not a newly discovered leak. It is an old executive comment being reposted without the timeline that followed it. For PC players, mod creators, and future FiveM communities, that missing context matters.

What Corsair’s CEO actually said

During the earnings call, Paul was discussing the broader PC hardware market and major games that could drive upgrades. In the relevant answer, he said that GTA VI was expected on console in fall 2025, followed by PC in early 2026.

The call was public, and the statement can be checked in the published earnings-call transcript. Corsair also published its own Q4 2024 financial-results release and webcast information.

That gives the rumor a much better foundation than an anonymous social-media post: the speaker, date, and wording are identifiable. But an identifiable statement is not the same thing as inside confirmation. Paul did not say he had received information from Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive, and neither company endorsed his estimate.

Why the estimate no longer fits the official timeline

On May 2, 2025, Rockstar announced a delay from its previously planned fall 2025 launch window. The studio’s official GTA VI page lists May 26, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S release.

That single official update changes how the Corsair quote should be read. A PC launch in early 2026 cannot happen if the announced console launch is later in May 2026.

It also means the original console-first assumption behind the quote was wrong, regardless of whether it reflected an informed industry expectation at the time or simply a reasonable guess based on Rockstar’s past release patterns. GTA VI’s new schedule may have affected every later platform plan, but Rockstar has not said what those plans are.

What Rockstar and Take-Two have confirmed

Here is the clean version of the current official information:

  • Rockstar has announced GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Rockstar lists May 26, 2026, as the announced release date for those console versions.
  • Rockstar has not published PC system requirements, a PC store page, a PC launch date, or a PC feature list.
  • Take-Two and Rockstar have not confirmed when—or whether in a specific timeframe—GTA VI will arrive on PC.

That last point can sound overly cautious because Rockstar’s modern GTA releases have eventually reached PC. But past platform strategy is context, not an announcement. It cannot establish GTA VI’s PC date, its technical requirements, whether it will launch alongside a future online component, or what tools and policies may apply to creators.

Why this rumor continues to spread

The quote has staying power for understandable reasons. Corsair is a recognizable PC hardware company, its chief executive made the comment on a public call, and early 2026 once sounded plausible beside the former fall 2025 console window.

The problem is that reposts often remove the date and the conditional wording. A headline can turn “my understanding” into “Corsair confirms,” then another repost turns that into “GTA VI PC release leaked.” By the time it reaches a short video or a forum screenshot, the important distinction is gone.

There is also a practical reason PC players want it to be true. GTA’s PC ecosystem includes single-player mods, graphics projects, roleplay servers, FiveM resources, custom maps, and an enormous amount of creator tooling. A clear PC schedule would help players decide when to upgrade and help developers decide how to plan their next projects. Wanting an answer does not make an unofficial answer reliable.

Rumor credibility

Classification: Low confidence.

The source is named and the statement is verifiable, which is a meaningful strength. Paul also leads a company that closely watches PC hardware demand, so his view was more relevant than a random prediction account’s. However, the claim had no stated direct evidence, no public corroboration from Rockstar or Take-Two, and no official PC announcement behind it.

Most importantly, its proposed early-2026 window is contradicted by Rockstar’s later confirmed console release date. That does not prove Corsair had no information in February 2025; schedules change in game development. It does mean the quote is no longer usable as evidence for a current GTA VI PC release forecast.

What this means for modders and FiveM server owners

For the modding community, the responsible move is to separate preparation from promises. It is sensible to keep improving transferable skills: Lua or JavaScript scripting, asset optimization, version control, resource documentation, server security, and clean dependency management. Those skills remain useful across GTA V, FiveM, and whatever GTA VI’s eventual PC ecosystem looks like.

It is not sensible to build a business plan around a rumored PC month, sell access to alleged GTA VI development kits, or claim that a FiveM migration timetable is known. No official GTA VI modding framework, FiveM compatibility plan, or creator policy has been announced. Anyone offering “early GTA VI PC access,” “confirmed mod tools,” or a guaranteed server migration path should be treated with serious caution.

For players, waiting for Rockstar or Take-Two to name a PC platform is the only reliable path. Until then, a good upgrade plan should be based on the games you play now rather than imagined GTA VI requirements.

Keep the quote in its proper context

Corsair’s February 2025 estimate is a useful example of how quickly a reasonable-sounding industry comment can become outdated. It is not evidence of a current PC launch window, and it is definitely not an official GTA VI PC announcement.

When Rockstar shares concrete PC information, it will be worth paying close attention to the supported platforms, release timing, technical details, and creator-facing policies.
