Unconfirmed GTA VI Trunk Inventory Rumor: What the Limited Weapon Claim Actually Says

Rumor status: Moderate confidence, still unconfirmed.

A series of claims posted by the GTA-focused X account GameRoll in June 2025 suggested that GTA VI could limit the weapons Jason and Lucia carry on their person. Under the alleged system, players would keep additional firearms in their vehicle’s trunk, selecting a smaller loadout before heading into a mission or causing the usual Leonida-sized amount of trouble.

That is the entire useful claim. It does not establish an exact weapon limit, confirm that every vehicle has identical storage, or prove that GTA VI will copy Red Dead Redemption 2’s inventory design. Rockstar Games has not announced a weapon inventory system for GTA VI, and neither has Take-Two Interactive.

The rumor is worth examining because it comes from an identifiable GTA rumor account rather than an anonymous screenshot or AI-made “leak” video. It also fits a design direction Rockstar has explored before. Still, plausibility is not proof—and players should not treat a believable feature as a confirmed one.

What GameRoll reportedly claimed

GameRoll’s June posts described a more restricted weapon-carrying approach than GTA V’s familiar weapon wheel. The account claimed Jason and Lucia would carry a limited set of weapons while keeping other equipment in a vehicle trunk.

In practical terms, that would mean a player may need to think ahead: take a handgun and compact rifle into a shop robbery, for example, while leaving heavier weapons in the car. If correct, it could make getting separated from a vehicle more consequential and give personal cars a larger gameplay role than simple transport.

However, the original claim did not come with footage, development documents, screenshots, or confirmation from Rockstar. It also did not explain important details, including:

  • Whether the restriction would apply throughout story mode or only during selected missions.
  • Whether players could access a full weapon wheel in scripted sequences.
  • How weapons would work after stealing, losing, destroying, or changing vehicles.
  • Whether safehouses, garages, boats, or other storage spaces would use the same system.
  • How any inventory restrictions would carry into a future online mode.

Those gaps matter. A broad description of a mechanic can be accurate while its practical implementation is completely different from what the community imagines.

What Rockstar has officially shown

Rockstar’s official GTA VI page and released trailers establish the game’s Vice City and Leonida setting, its protagonists Jason and Lucia, and the current November 19, 2026 console release date. They do not describe a trunk inventory, a restricted weapon wheel, or a specific weapon-storage mechanic.

Trailer footage shows characters using guns, as players would expect from Grand Theft Auto. But seeing a weapon in a trailer is not evidence for how the game’s inventory menus, mission scripting, pickups, or vehicle storage will operate. Trailers are built to establish tone, characters, locations, and action—not to document every final system rule.

It is also important not to confuse GTA VI with Rockstar’s previous games. Red Dead Redemption 2 tied much of Arthur Morgan’s equipment access to his horse, so the idea of vehicle-based weapon storage has a clear Rockstar precedent. But a precedent is not an announcement. GTA V used a very different approach, giving players rapid access to a large arsenal through the weapon wheel.

Why the claim sounds plausible

From a design perspective, a limited carried loadout could suit GTA VI’s reported focus on Jason and Lucia as a duo. It could add pressure to robberies, escapes, and impromptu police chases without turning the game into a full survival simulator. A character who has brought the wrong tool—or left their car several blocks away—would need to improvise.

It could also address a familiar open-world oddity: protagonists instantly producing an oversized collection of guns, explosives, and heavy weapons from nowhere. Rockstar often embraces that arcade-style power fantasy, but it has also experimented with more grounded systems when the setting calls for them.

None of that means the claim is true. Game development changes constantly, especially on a project as large as GTA VI. A feature can be prototyped, altered for pacing, limited to a mission, or removed long before release. Even legitimate early information may describe a build that no longer reflects the shipped game.

Rumor credibility

Classification: Moderate confidence, still unconfirmed.

This classification is not a prediction that the mechanic will appear. It reflects the quality of the claim relative to typical GTA VI rumor noise.

Reasons it has some credibility

  • An identifiable origin: The claim is associated with GameRoll’s public GTA-focused account, rather than a faceless repost page with no accountable source.
  • A reasonable design fit: Vehicle-based storage resembles inventory ideas Rockstar has used in earlier games, without requiring an outlandish leap in technology or scope.
  • No immediate conflict with official material: Rockstar has not shown anything that clearly rules out a more limited weapon system.

Reasons to stay skeptical

  • No direct evidence was provided: There is no official footage, document, hands-on report, or independently verifiable asset attached to the claim.
  • No independent confirmation: A feature should not gain credibility merely because multiple sites repeat the same original social-media post.
  • The details are incomplete: Without rules for mission access, vehicle loss, storage capacity, and online play, the rumor remains a high-level description rather than a verifiable feature breakdown.
  • Development information can age badly: Even accurate second-hand details may refer to an earlier build of GTA VI.

That combination puts the report above low-effort “leak” bait, but well below anything players should plan purchases, server concepts, or mod projects around.

What it could mean for PC players and future modding

If GTA VI eventually reaches PC and this system survives to release, it could create interesting opportunities for single-player creators. A mod might expand garage storage, add visual trunk interactions, rebalance weapon capacity, or offer optional roleplay-oriented loadouts. Those are possibilities, not current projects or confirmed technical capabilities.

For FiveM communities, the immediate lesson is even simpler: do not assume a GTA VI mechanic will automatically become available in any future multiplayer framework. FiveM servers already use custom inventory, weapon, vehicle-key, and storage systems with server-side rules. A hypothetical GTA VI trunk mechanic would not tell us how future server resources, synchronization, anti-cheat protections, or scripting tools may work.

Server owners planning roleplay systems can still take a useful idea from the discussion. Inventory restrictions work best when they create meaningful choices without turning normal gameplay into a chore. Players need clear access rules, sensible recovery options after a crash or disconnect, and enough capacity to participate in common activities. A realistic system that constantly eats time is not automatically better roleplay.

Watch official channels, not weapon-wheel mockups

Until Rockstar details GTA VI’s gameplay systems, screenshots claiming to show a “confirmed” weapon wheel or trunk menu deserve extra scrutiny. Mockups can be created in minutes, old GTA V or Red Dead footage can be mislabeled, and generative AI has made convincing-looking interface fakes far easier to produce.

A better standard is straightforward: look for a statement from Rockstar, clearly sourced hands-on coverage, or multiple independent reports with evidence that can be assessed. Anything short of that belongs in the rumor column.
