Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025, alongside a substantial update to the game’s official GTA VI website. The new material gives players far more than a fresh montage: it establishes the central conflict around Jason and Lucia, introduces several major supporting characters, and expands Rockstar’s official picture of Vice City and the wider state of Leonida.
There is still a lot Rockstar has not announced. The trailer does not confirm GTA VI gameplay systems, an online mode, a PC version, mod support, or FiveM compatibility. That distinction matters, especially now that every street sign and background vehicle is being treated like a roadmap by somebody on social media.
Here is what the official trailer and website actually tell us—and what creators, roleplay communities, and future PC players should hold off on assuming.
Jason and Lucia are firmly at the center of GTA VI
Trailer 2 makes the game’s dual-protagonist setup clearer than the first reveal. Rockstar’s character pages describe Jason Duval as someone raised around grifters and criminals who wants an easier life but keeps finding himself pulled toward trouble. Lucia Caminos, meanwhile, has been through Leonida Penitentiary and is focused on building a better life by any means available.
The official framing is not simply “two bank robbers on the run.” Rockstar describes the pair as being drawn into a criminal conspiracy after an easy score goes badly, leaving them dependent on one another across Leonida’s underworld. That provides a much stronger story foundation than the broad trailer-one premise.
It also suggests GTA VI may spend meaningful time on the relationship between its protagonists rather than treating character switching as a purely mechanical feature. That is analysis, not a confirmed gameplay detail: Rockstar has not explained how switching will work, whether missions will use both characters throughout, or whether players will have the same free-roam flexibility seen in GTA V.
Rockstar’s Leonida is bigger than Vice City
Vice City remains the headline location, but Rockstar’s official descriptions make clear that it is only one part of Leonida. The updated site identifies several distinct places:
- Vice City: The neon-soaked urban center, including Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, Tisha-Wocka, the VC Port, and the central business district.
- Leonida Keys: A tropical archipelago with boating, dive bars, luxury homes, and the risks that come with sharing water with sharks and other wildlife.
- Grassrivers: A wetlands region that appears to be Rockstar’s take on the Everglades, complete with airboats, gators, and plenty of room for trouble to disappear into the grass.
- Port Gellhorn: A faded coastal area of motels, strip malls, and roadside businesses that looks far removed from Vice City’s glossy image.
- Ambrosia: A more industrial, rural community where the local sugar refinery and biker culture appear to shape daily life.
- Mount Kalaga National Park: A wilderness region with forests, trails, and small-town activity outside the major metro areas.
For players, that variety is important because it points toward a world built around different kinds of driving, exploration, and criminal activity—not just a bigger urban sandbox. For creators, the official material is a useful reminder that the GTA VI aesthetic is not limited to supercars, nightclubs, and pastel beachfront property. Rural law enforcement, airboat culture, roadside commerce, fishing towns, industrial spaces, and national-park terrain all appear to have a place in Leonida’s identity.
None of this confirms the final size of the map, how accessible every region will be, or whether the world will expand after launch. Rockstar has not published a map, a total area measurement, or post-launch plans.
The supporting cast adds more texture to the criminal world
Rockstar’s website also introduced a supporting cast with roles that appear more concrete than typical one-line character teases. Brian Heder is described as a longtime drug runner who lets Jason stay at one of his properties in exchange for helping with local work. Cal Hampton is Jason’s conspiracy-minded friend who prefers surveillance chatter and a quiet routine.
On the Vice City side, Boobie Ike has moved from street hustling into a business operation spanning real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio. Dre’Quan Priest is trying to turn the music business into something larger, while Real Dimez—Bae-Luxe and Roxy—are a rap duo looking to turn their online attention into a lasting career. Raul Bautista, an experienced bank robber, rounds out the group as someone whose escalating risks could place him directly in Jason and Lucia’s orbit.
This collection of characters does not prove the game will have business-management mechanics, music-career systems, social-media simulation, or elaborate heist planning tools. It does, however, show Rockstar is positioning Vice City’s crime scene as a network of people with competing ambitions rather than a backdrop filled only with anonymous mission givers.
Trailer footage is not the same thing as a feature list
Trailer 2 shows nightlife, police activity, social feeds, boats, motorcycles, wildlife, aircraft, sports, music venues, street takeovers, interior spaces, and a huge range of vehicles. Those scenes help establish the setting and tone, but they should not be converted into feature claims without a direct Rockstar statement.
For example, a trailer showing a character using a phone does not confirm the scope of the in-game phone interface. A shot in a nightclub does not confirm a player-owned club. A scene with cops does not explain wanted-level behavior. Even scenes that look like gameplay may have been edited, scripted, or captured under conditions that do not represent the final release.
That caution is especially useful for prospective mod creators. “Confirmed” GTA VI asset lists, vehicle databases, interior counts, weapon lists, and system requirements are already easy to find online, but much of that material is built from guesses, old leaks, or plain fiction. The official trailer is a reference point for visual inspiration—not permission to label a fan-made resource as an accurate GTA VI recreation.
What Trailer 2 does not answer for PC and FiveM communities
Rockstar’s official GTA VI materials continue to list PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC release has not been announced in the trailer, on the official GTA VI site, or through a Rockstar platform listing. That means there are no official PC specifications, no official release window for PC, and no basis for legitimate GTA VI PC pre-order listings.
Likewise, Rockstar has not announced GTA VI modding tools, single-player mod policies, an official creator program, roleplay infrastructure, or FiveM support. Rockstar’s ownership of Cfx.re has understandably made the FiveM question a major one, but it does not automatically confirm that GTA VI will support existing FiveM resources, server frameworks, or any particular multiplayer model.
The sensible move for established GTA V and FiveM creators is to keep building transferable skills: clean resource structure, optimized streaming assets, secure server-side logic, readable documentation, and collaborative workflows. Those habits will remain useful whether GTA VI’s future modding ecosystem is open, limited, unofficial, or something entirely new.
Rockstar has set the story tone, but the practical details can wait
The strongest takeaway from Trailer 2 is that Rockstar now has a much clearer official narrative for GTA VI: Jason and Lucia are caught in a dangerous relationship and a wider Leonida criminal world that stretches well beyond Vice City. It is a more useful foundation for discussion than recycling alleged feature lists or treating every trailer frame as a promise.
As previously announced by Rockstar, GTA VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Release plans, platform support, features, and technical details can change before launch. The analysis in this article is speculative where noted and might not accurately represent current or future events; Rockstar’s official channels remain the source to watch for definitive updates.
