GTA VI Trailer 2: What Rockstar Officially Revealed About Jason, Lucia, and Leonida

Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025, giving players their most detailed official look yet at Jason Duval, Lucia Caminos, and the wider state of Leonida. Alongside the trailer, Rockstar updated the GTA VI website with character and location pages that add important context beyond the flashy cars, boats, aircraft, and neon-soaked Vice City shots.

The biggest concrete takeaway remains the release window: Rockstar lists GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 26, 2026. A PC version has not been announced. Trailer 2 is a major step up in tone and world-building, but it is not a full gameplay breakdown, a feature list, or a technical specification sheet.

That distinction matters, especially for PC players, mod creators, and FiveM communities trying to separate solid information from the usual mountain of GTA speculation.

Jason and Lucia are officially the center of GTA VI

Trailer 2 makes the game’s dual-protagonist setup much clearer. Rockstar’s official character descriptions position Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos as partners whose lives become more dangerous after a job goes wrong. The broad setup is familiar GTA territory: crime, pressure, compromised loyalties, and a story that grows beyond the pair’s original plans.

Jason is described as someone who grew up around grifters and criminals, served in the Army, and eventually found himself working for local drug runners in the Keys. Lucia’s background is more directly tied to survival: Rockstar says she learned to fight for her family early, ended up in Leonida Penitentiary after a job went wrong, and is determined to build a better life through smarter choices.

The trailer’s relationship focus is notable. GTA has always had memorable criminal partnerships, but Rockstar is clearly presenting Jason and Lucia’s bond as a central narrative engine rather than a side detail. The footage moves between intimate conversations, low-level hustles, high-speed escapes, nightlife, and confrontations with law enforcement. It suggests that their personal stakes will sit close to the action.

What Rockstar has not confirmed is exactly how switching between the two characters works, whether missions can be approached from separate perspectives, or how their relationship changes mechanically over the course of the story. Those are reasonable questions, but Trailer 2 does not answer them.

Leonida is more than a return trip to Vice City

Vice City is still the headline attraction, and Rockstar’s new imagery leans hard into its beaches, luxury towers, clubs, marinas, traffic, and coastal skyline. But the official website frames GTA VI as a trip across the state of Leonida, not a single-city game.

Rockstar identifies several areas outside Vice City:

  • The Leonida Keys: A tropical archipelago where Jason’s criminal connections appear to run deep.
  • Grassrivers: A wetlands region filled with mangroves, alligators, and dangerous wildlife.
  • Port Gellhorn: A struggling coastal area of cheap motels, shuttered attractions, and local criminal activity.
  • Ambrosia: An industrial heartland community shaped by a sugar refinery and a biker gang.
  • Mount Kalaga National Park: A more remote northern wilderness area with forests, trails, and small-town characters.

This is useful confirmation for anyone who worried that GTA VI would be limited to a polished Vice City recreation. Rockstar is describing a deliberately varied map: dense urban areas, islands, swamp country, industrial towns, highways, rural communities, and protected wilderness all appear to be part of the same broader setting.

For players, that variety should create a stronger sense of contrast between activities and neighborhoods. For creators, it is the kind of environment diversity that eventually inspires very different vehicle packs, roleplay scenarios, map ideas, photography projects, and single-player experiences—once the game is available on a platform where legitimate modding tools and community frameworks are possible.

The supporting cast points to a bigger criminal ecosystem

Rockstar also introduced several supporting characters through its official site. Cal Hampton is presented as Jason’s conspiracy-minded friend who spends time monitoring Coast Guard communications from home. Boobie Ike is a Vice City figure who has moved from street crime into a legitimate-looking entertainment and real-estate business. Dre’Quan Priest is connected to the music scene, while Real Dimez, a duo made up of Bae-Luxe and Roxy, are trying to turn their notoriety into a breakthrough.

Then there are Brian Heder and Raul Bautista, who represent two ends of the criminal ladder. Brian is described as an old-school Keys drug runner who lets Jason live rent-free in exchange for help with local work. Raul is a seasoned bank robber who is always hunting for the next score.

None of these descriptions confirm mission structures, faction systems, music-industry mechanics, heists, or an expanded property economy. They do, however, show that Rockstar is building a world where crime is tied to local businesses, influencers, artists, hustlers, gangs, and established operators—not simply random mission-givers standing around with icons over their heads.

The trailer footage looks impressive, but it is not a performance benchmark

Rockstar stated that Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5. That is an encouraging technical detail, particularly because the footage includes busy streets, dense vegetation, complex lighting, reflective water, interior scenes, crowds, and fast vehicle movement.

Still, prospective players should be careful with what that statement means. It does not confirm a frame-rate target, resolution, graphics mode, ray-tracing configuration, install size, console performance profile, or eventual PC requirements. A curated trailer can demonstrate visual direction and real-time rendering quality without answering every practical question people will have at launch.

PC players are in an even more uncertain position. Rockstar has confirmed only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for the May 26, 2026 release. There is no official GTA VI PC release date, no PC store listing, and no published hardware guidance. It is fair to expect PC discussion to intensify as the console launch gets closer, but expectation is not confirmation.

What Trailer 2 means for modding and FiveM communities

Trailer 2 gives creators more reference material, but it does not change the current reality: Rockstar has not announced official GTA VI mod support, a GTA VI FiveM framework, server tools, or a roleplay platform. Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, is part of Rockstar Games, yet that relationship alone does not establish a timeline or feature set for GTA VI multiplayer modding.

The sensible move for existing GTA V and FiveM creators is to keep building useful skills now. Optimized asset workflows, clean scripting habits, version control, documentation, licensing awareness, server moderation, and performance testing will remain valuable regardless of how GTA VI’s eventual PC and creator ecosystems take shape.

Trailer 2’s world variety also reinforces why those foundations matter. A fictional state with urban, coastal, rural, and wetland spaces could eventually support a huge range of community concepts. But creators should avoid designing projects around unconfirmed assumptions about map access, native functions, multiplayer architecture, file formats, or legal boundaries.

Any prediction about GTA VI modding, PC support, roleplay tools, or the game’s final technical features is speculative and might not accurately represent current or future events. For now, Rockstar’s official material supports excitement about the setting and story, not firm promises about the tools creators will receive.

Watch for official details, not feature-list guesswork

Rockstar’s second trailer succeeds because it gives GTA VI more personality. Jason and Lucia now have a clearer place in the story, Leonida has a more convincing identity beyond Vice City nostalgia, and the supporting cast hints at a state packed with competing ambitions.

There is still plenty Rockstar has not shown: extended gameplay, the exact shape of GTA VI’s online component, accessibility options, performance modes, editions, pricing, PC availability, and every question relevant to modding communities. Those gaps will inevitably generate theories, but the official website and trailer remain the best baseline for what is actually known.
